THE CURIOUS TALE OF CATS AND BOXES
The curious tales of cats and boxes — including five reasons for this cardboard love affair backed by science.

How to Bling Out Your Litter Box
Nothing can kill the vibe more than an unsightly litter box set up.
Whether it’s tucked away in a guest room, situated in a stairwell, or directly in your face as you enter the bathroom — the sight of the box can sometimes really stink up the place. Of course, we do our best to make the box blend in — buying fancy litter box furniture and what not.
But even if you have a simple box with a cover, the supplies and messes can take up a lot of room and can sometimes be hard to hide.
Luckily, these decor issues end today!
Get ready to put your creative hat on and think outside the box with these simple tips to beautify your litter box situation.
While we’ve already figured out a solution for the smells — our Boosters™ Poop Fighter® litter additives puts poop stink in its place — we’re now looking to help you level up your litter box set up.
Level Up Your Litter Box Set Up
Posters, picture frames, plants, and more!
The following are a few simple ways to beautify the area around your litter box and enhance the overall vibe of your cat-friendly home!
- Use a rug instead of a litter mat — Every litter box needs some kind of mat to collect excess litter. But it’s not easy finding a litter mat that matches your decor. Instead of buying an expensive, unsightly litter mat, try a small decorative rug. You can find these at any home goods store or while thrifting.
- Pro Tip: Just be sure to avoid a shag carpet because it will trap litter and can be hard to vacuum.
- Add some art, photos, or posters — Artwork, posters and photos are the purrfect addition to any cat bathroom. You can choose pieces that complement the style of your home, not to mention add adorable photos of your cat, or even vintage posters. Examples could be:
- A poster of your cat’s favorite band — Def Leppard, perhaps?
- A print of your cat’s favorite piece of art — how about Tournée du Chat noir?
- A photo of the two of you — we both know you have hundreds!
- Get some greenery — Liven up a dull litter box area with cat-friendly or fake plants. You can place these on the floor in the litter area, or on top of a front-entry litter box. There are a lot of pet-friendly plants that are natural air purifiers, like:
- Spider plant
- Boston fern
- Prayer plant
- Bamboo palm
If your cat has a tendency of attacking anything with leaves, try fake plants to avoid having to clean up both dirt and litter!
- Add some elegance with a privacy screen — Is your cat a private pooper? Give them alone time and keep the litter box out of sight with a DIY privacy screen. You can make a privacy screen using a trifold poster board, or pieces of wood if you’re crafty. Paint it, add fabric to it, or get creative!
- Get crafty with a table — This litter box hack is perfect for small spaces. All you need is a table and some fabric! Use an end table or any small table, just make sure it’s big enough for a box to fit underneath. Then, choose your favorite fabric and attach it to each side of the table with a spring curtain rod or glue. Just make sure the opening of the litter box is easy for your kitty to access. Make sure you have enough space to fit the litter pan and all your litter supplies. Just remember: The entry should be easy for your cat to get in and out of comfortably.
So not that we’ve covered the more functional upgrades you can make to your litter box, it’s time to get weird!
