THE CURIOUS TALE OF CATS AND BOXES
The curious tales of cats and boxes — including five reasons for this cardboard love affair backed by science.
Bag vs. Box: A Big Litter Debate
You’ve probably noticed that World’s Best Cat Litter® comes in a bag as opposed to those big bulky boxes that many clay litters come in.
It’s true. In fact, our natural cat litter formulas come in multiple size bags.
Now, full transparency here. We do offer litter in a box. It’s a 32 lb value pack box filled with our bags of exclusive litter formulas available only at Walmart. So as you can see, we’re not anti-box by any means.
So, why do we choose bags? It’s simple, really.
We believe a bag is just better.
Don’t believe us? We’ve compiled a few reasons why we think a bag beats the box, hands down.
4 Reasons Why a Bag of Kitty Litter is Best
Reason #1 – a Flexible Vessel Ideal for Freshness
Unlike a cardboard box, which you must punch, poke or prod to open, a bag can be accessed and contained far more easily.
Bags are flexible. You can tuck them into a tight corner, under a sink, or into a closet. Boxes are rigid and unyielding.
Not only can a bag of kitty litter be easily placed in a container, but it can also be easily rolled up and stored. Proper storage is crucial for litter that uses natural ingredients like corn, as it prevents moisture and humidity from impacting your unused litter.
Clay litter in boxes? Good luck keeping moisture out after you ripped open the box, or popped the opening.
Reason #2 – No More Cardboard Box Buildup
The thing about boxes is that they are difficult to fit into odd spaces and take up precious square footage.
Got a tiny apartment or smaller living space? You need the space-saving magic of a bag.
Additionally, once the clay litter box is empty, those boxes can be a tad bit cumbersome to store/recycle.
Reason #3 – Ultimate Pouring Power
Boxes can be super heavy and awkward to pour into a litter box, plus the plume of dust that comes out upon pouring can be overpowering.
Bags, meanwhile, can be better gripped and controlled during the pouring process. You can tip it just right, minimizing dust and creating a clean, controlled flow.
Reason #4 – A Resilient Litter Receptacle
Ever dropped a full cardboard box of clay litter down the stairs? It’s a disaster.
The handle could rip, the bottom can bust out, and litter goes everywhere, and you’re left with a major cleanup.
Bags are surprisingly resilient. They can handle a drop without splitting, keeping your litter safely inside. Additionally, bags can be easily transported if going on a road trip. Boxes are just…clunky for travel.
So, there you have it.
Several compelling reasons why a bag of kitty litter, in our opinion, is the clear winner in the litter packaging wars.
