Record-setting felines: The big, the small and the many-toed!

We’re always amazed when we hear about felines whose stories and personalities are larger than life, which got us thinking …

Why not share some tidbits on domestic cats that truly are record-breaking?

Here are the stories of some domestic cats that defy logic by being among the longest, smallest and tallest!

1. World’s Longest – A five-year-old Maine Coon named “Stewie” is listed by the Guinness World Records as the world’s longest domestic cat. Stewie measures in at an amazing 48.5 inches long from the tip of his nose to the tip of his tail!

Apparently the Maine Coon – the gentle giants of the cat world – have a penchant for being long as Stewie’s breaking of the record in 2010, saw him dethroning another Maine Coon that measured 48-inches in length.

You can get a better measure of Stewie’s length by checking out this video.

2. World’s Smallest – A tiny feline named “Mr. Peebles” is commonly recognized as the smallest living domestic cat in the world. This little guy is full-grown, but due to an apparent genetic defect, he weighs in at less than 3 pounds and is only 6 inches tall!

3. Toe many? – A cat named “Jake” from Ontario, Canada has the unusual distinction of being in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the domestic cat with the most toes. Jake clawed his way into history by having an amazing 28 toes – seven on each paw. Other unofficial claims to the polydactyl record involve a Maine feline named “Mooch” with 28 toes and a New Jersey cat named “Bandit” whose owners say has 29 toes!

4. A Tall Tale – In 2010 a Savannah cat named “Scarlett’s Magic” from California was deemed the world’s tallest domestic cat standing 18 inches “shoulder to toe.” Savannah cats are a cross between an African Serval cat and a domesticated breed. They are known for their energetic personalities and dramatic black-spotted coats.
