February 2010--The Best of Cats on the Internet!

Greetings all!

As the saying goes, if March comes in like a lion it will go out like a lamb. We at World's Best Cat Litter™ aim to make March a month filled with laughs, purrs and smiles so that we can usher it in like a LOL cat and out like a LOL kitten. If you missed the Best of Cats on the Internet for January, you might want to get caught up before moving on!

Ok, without further ado, World's Best Cat Litter™ brings you the Best of Cats on the Internet for February!

KITTY CAT VIDEO CORNER:

Lions and Wolves
These two lions appear as though they will be raised by wolves. Only these two lions are adorable abandoned kittens, and the wolf, well just a Chihuahua.

The Laziest Cat Ever?
Ok, we all like to relax a little, right? This cat however, might be a little too relaxed! Check out this adorable video of a cat kicking back and not going as far as raising a single paw.

Kitten Play
Maybe these kittens forget they aren't cubs. Regardless, it sure is fun to watch them play.

BEST OF THE CAT BLOGOSPHERE:

We love to get the real scoop on our litter from expert bloggers, writers and cat owners. Here is a nice World's Best Cat Litter™ review from Peggy Rowland of Blisstree.com. She really liked how our litter is totally natural, dust-free and great at clumping!

In other news, we invite you to decide if our litter is "Haute or Not" on this great review post from PetMD's "Haute or Not?"

TIPS TRICKS AND GENERAL INFO:

Having a hard time dealing with cat hair? This helpful article will show you ways to handle the cat hair that is in those hard to remove places, like on the couch cushions.

Got kittens in your future? Here are a few tips to help you figure out if your cat is pregnant. Remember, if you are unsure, it is always best to get your veterinarian's professional opinion!

Well that seems to be all for this month. We hope everyone enjoyed themselves and are looking forward to next month's "Best of Cats on the Internet"! Here is to warmer weather just around the bend!

Sincerely,

Dr. Ruth MacPete: "Green Pet Living" - Helping Pet Owners & Pets "Go Green"

You've switched from incandescent bulbs to low wattage LED's. You drive a hybrid and bring your own bags to the grocery store. You care about greenhouse gases and your carbon footprint, but what about your pet's carbon pawprint? Is your pet living a green, eco-friendly life? With just a few simple changes, you can make sure that your pet's living green too.

  • Waste Management. Anyone who has ever had a pet knows that they create lots of waste. It is estimated that 10 million tons of waste from pets fill landfills yearly. What can be done? Instead of using plastic bags to pick up and dispose of your pet's waste, try using recycled biodegradable pet poop bags. If you have a cat, switch from a clay-based litter to a biodegradable litter, like World's Best Cat Litter™. Not only will you be using a chemical-free, all-natural and flushable litter, but by switching to a biodegradable litter, you can cut down on the estimated 2 million tons of clay litter that end up in landfills.
  • Give a Hoot, Don't Pollute. Always pick-up after your pet and follow the backpacker's motto of leaving only footprints. Leaving your pet's waste behind is not only rude, it can pollute water sources when washed into the storm drains that empty into streams and lakes.
  • Buy Green. Purchase pet beds, furniture and toys made from recycled or sustainable materials such as hemp. Environmentally friendly hemp can be used to make almost everything, like leashes, collars, beds and toys.
  • Buy in Bulk. Buying pet food and pet supplies in bulk not only saves money, it also conserves fuel and lowers emissions by saving you extra trips to the store.
  • Pet Overpopulation. Make sure your pet isn't adding to the pet over-population problem by having your pets spayed or neutered.
  • Recycled Pets. If you are thinking about adding to your family think about getting a pet from the shelter. There are tons of "recycled pets" in need of a good home. While adopting one of these deserving pets may not lower emissions or save fuel, it can save a life.

By adopting these tips, you and your pet can live green and make the planet a better place.

Green Living: A Plus for our Planet
Here are some tips on creating a more eco-friendly home—for both you and your pets. One suggestion, for example, is to take shorter showers. Our furriends might suggest simply licking your hand and rubbing behind your ears more often during the day. It seems to work for them! Of course, the blog mentions World's Best Cat Litter™ ... You could say, when it comes to pet, people and planet safe solutions, we're a natural!

Let the Olympicat Games Begin!

With the Winter Olympics just around the corner, it reminds us that this is no season to hibernate—and even pets could benefit from some rigorous physical activity. Sure they might enjoy curling (on the couch), but cats also love to play! One of the most amusing ways you can play with your cat is by dimming the lights and taking out a laser pointer. With a few dexterous wrist motions, you'll soon see how well your cat can flip jump, dance and lutz—no ice required.

If your kitty competitor isn't all about chasing that little red dot around, check out some of these other great cat games.

Playing with your cat is a great way to fulfill all those resolutions you made for your and your pet. Playing is a good start. But while you're at it, look into healthier alternatives for them as well. Here's an article from Dr. Ruth MacPete regarding pet obesity. Below we have also shared two great resources to help maintain a healthy diet for your pet.

The Feline Nutrition Education Society
Ask the Expert: Pet Nutrition from the ASPCA

Maybe you made another resolution about being more environmentally friendly. If that is the case, here are a few tips on how to make your feline friend go green. World's Best Cat Litter™ is happy to remind you that our 100% natural litter is made with whole-kernel corn and is pet, people and planet safe!

Here's hoping you enjoy many gold-medal moments with your nimble mouser. We'll see you next month!

Help Give World's Best Cat Litter™ to Cats in Need - Update, January Winners Have Been Picked!

Thanks to everyone for helping to spread the word about this effort! We had 54 suggestions this month, which is great to see such a fantastic increase. Like we promised, we have chosen 5 of those 54 organizations. So let's get right down to it! Here are the winners for January!

  1. Forgotten Animals of Los Angeles (FALA) in Los Angeles, CA
Forgotten Animals of Los Angeles was suggested by an anonymous person who told us that FALA was, "a non-profit, volunteer organization dedicated to humane nurturing, neutering and finding loving homes for abandoned cats & kittens. Each animal receives a health check, is tested, vaccinated, spayed or neutered and dewormed prior to adoption."

That sounds like a place that may enjoy some free all natural litter. So thank you anonymous for the good tip, we will be sending them some soon.
  2. Tabby's Place in Ringoes, NJ
Tabby's was suggested to us by Danielle, who made it a point to show us that Tabby's place was more of a sanctuary than a shelter. Danielle sent us to their website, while at the same time quoting part of it, "Tabby's Place is a cage-free sanctuary that provides refuge to cats in hopeless situations. Our residents come primarily from public shelters where they had once been scheduled for euthanasia."

Thank you Danielle for pointing out their dedication to helping even the neediest of cats, their litter will be en route shortly.
  3. Feline Rescue in St. Paul, MN
Katie led us to Feline Rescue, a no-kill shelter located in MN, where their mission is clear, "provide safe shelter, veterinary care, and socialization for stray, abandoned, or abused cats until good permanent homes can be found for them."
  4. Marley's Cat Tale in Cary, NC
"Where every tail has a happy ending!" With a slogan like that we feel pretty good about sending them some of our litter. Thank you D. Weaton for helping us.
  5. Red Door Animal Shelter in Chicago, IL
A suggestion by Emily, this is a no-kill shelter that prides themselves on being a safe haven for cats, dogs, and rabbits. We are happy to be shipping them some litter to help them along.

Remember, we will give away two more 34lb. bags to a charity, foundation or rescue group next month too, so stay tuned for updates! For everyone else who submitted a great charity, rescue or organization that didn't get picked, we thank you and invite you to come back next month and try again! Make sure to sign up for Clearing the Air updates via RSS or email so you can know when to make a comment next month.

Very Best,

Help Give World’s Best Cat Litter™ to Cats in Need - January

Hi, everyone!

First and foremost, thanks everyone for spreading the word and helping with this effort! We were truly amazed with the turnout and participation from everyone in providing great charities and groups so far. We were more than happy to deliver a couple bags of World's Best Cat Litter™ to the charities and groups selected during our last giveaway.

Guess what? This time we are raising the stakes even higher!

Instead of two winners we will have five! Just like last time, we invite you to leave a comment on this post and tell us why we you are recommending your choice. We will then draw five submissions on January 26, and send each a 34-lb bag of cat litter. And we'll post the names of our winners—and the people who recommended them—in upcoming blogs!

Ok, you know what to do! Tell us who you want to receive some litter this month!

Dr. Ruth MacPete – "Love Your Pet" Valentine's Day Tips

Our pets give us so much and ask for so little. Show them how much you love and appreciate them this Valentine's Day by giving them the ultimate gift of love: good health.

  • Why wait until your pet is sick before seeing the veterinarian? Instead, take your pet to the veterinarian for a routine check–up at least once a year. Routine check-ups allow your veterinarian to detect medical issues early when they are easiest to treat and help keep your pet in top shape.
  • Vaccines are important so stay up to date on the recommended immunizations to protect your pet from preventable illnesses.
  • Parasites are more than a nuisance. They can cause serious health problems to your pet. Protect your pet from parasites by using veterinary recommended parasite control products year-round. Unlike the products from the past, today's recommended products are safe, easy to use, and extremely effective.
  • Keep your pet's smile pearly white by brushing regularly with pet-safe tooth paste and by providing dental toys and treats to help keep their teeth healthy and clean.
  • Prevent your pet from becoming one of the many missing and unidentified pets at shelters around the country by making sure they always wear a collar and ID tag and have a registered microchip. No matter how careful you are, you can never be sure your animal won't get lost. Take every precaution to insure that if your pet gets lost, they have the best chance of coming home to you.
  • Nutrition and exercise are as important for your pet as it is for you. Provide high quality food and plenty of exercise to keep your pet lean and fit.
  • It's more than just for looks. Keep your pet's coat healthy with regular brushing and grooming.
  • Be green and buy natural products that are pet, people and planet friendly. For cats, consider using all-natural, biodegradable corn based litter like World's Best Cat Litter™. And for dogs, try using biodegradable waste bags.
  • Lastly, keep your pet's mind and body sharp by buying them stimulating toys for Valentine's Day. Here are a few of my favorites dog toys: The Buster Cube, TreatStik, The Babble Ball, GoDogGo and here are a few of my favorite entertaining cat toys: The Kitty Babble Ball, Panic Mouse, Cheese Mountain, and Thing in a Bag.

So remember when you are thinking about your loved ones this Valentine's Day don't forget about your four legged friends. Our furry friends give us unconditional love and companionship year round and deserve a show of affection.

Brrr! It's Cold - 4 Tips to Keep Your Felines Warm During the Cold Winter Months

Shiver, shiver, shiver ... it's that time of the year again ... when teeth chatter, breath fogs and goose bumps pop. Lucky for us, we can put on an extra coat or go into a warm house. But what about our four-legged friends, who have only one coat to get them through summer and winter? How do we keep them warm?

Here are four easy ways to ensure your pets stay warm during Mother Nature's long dance with Old Man Winter.

  1. Gimme Shelter
You don't have to build a sealed metal fortress for your cat, but let's talk about some sufficient options that don't require a lot of budget and effort. We recommend checking out this very helpful article "How To Keep Outdoor Cats Warm In Winter" on HubPages. Here are some of the key points:
    • Get a shelter big enough for a cat but not big enough for a dog, raccoon, possum, skunk or other unwanted animal.
    • Place some straw in the home for extra warmth.
    • Try to put the shelter in an area protected from the wind and elements. This will help avoid cold drafts.

Here are a few different outdoor shelters and houses that you can purchase for use outside your home. Also keep in mind you can build your own cat shelter.

Small Insulated Outdoor Cedar Cat House from the Cat & Kitten Store -- $159.99
KatKabin Outdoor Cat House -- $103.99
Outdoor Heated Kitty Pad -- $49.95

  2. Feed that Feline!
In winter, it is important to increase your cats food supply and give them a lot of high-quality proteins. This will help them keep their coats healthy and thick throughout the wintertime months. If you make food and water available outside in cold conditions, don't use metal bowls. You don't want Fluffy's tongue frozen to the metal—even if she is triple-dog dared! Also, be sure to regularly check the water bowl to make sure it is not freezing over.
  3. Manage all the ins and outs
This one is pretty simple. When the weather gets cold, let your cat outdoors less. When the temperature starts to bottom out, be aware of how long your cat has been outside. Set a time period from when you let your cat out to when you think they should come back in. For example, if the weather is really cold and you let your cat out at 4, set a timer to let it back in at 4:15.

Unlike in summer, spring and fall, when it is more comfortable for your cat to wait outside, the winter can be a dangerous time to leave a kitty waiting around for you to open the door, which leads us to our next tip.
  4. Watch that door
As you are well aware, if a cat comes up to your door it is ready to come inside. It is very important during the cold winter months to make sure that you pay close attention. Not good at watching the door? Here are two creative ideas to help:
    • Get an outdoor camera. That way you can see if your cat is at your door from the convenience of your computer. We recommend the Logitech Outdoor Camera.
    • Install a motion detector. You can turn on the motion detector every time you let your cats out so that you get alerted as soon as they come back to the door. You can get a fairly inexpensive motion detector like this outdoor motion sensor and set it the appropriate area and height level to detect your cat.

Alright folks, button up and have a happy winter season! For all you cute-as-a-button cats, stay safe ... and stay warm!

Yours purrsonally,

Help Give World’s Best Cat Litter™ to Cats in Need - Update, November Winners Have Been Picked!

Thanks to everyone for helping to spread the word about this effort! We have gotten so many great responses and suggestions over the past couple weeks! To all of you who have submitted a charity, rescue group or suggested a cat in need, we sincerely thank you and appreciate your participation.

So who are the recipients of litter this month?

  1. Beaufort Community Cat Project in Beaufort, NC
Beaufort Community Cat Project was submitted by Dana of The Creek Cats. In her very own words:
"The Beaufort Community Cat Project is an all-volunteer organization advocating non lethal methods to reduce the free-roaming cat population using Trap-Neuter-Return. This litter would be beneficial to the cats who must stay in post op crates after their spay/neuter surgeries."
Wow, sounds like they are doing an awesome job with this project and that having an all-natural litter will be very beneficial to them! Thanks so much for your submission Dana! We will send them some litter to help them along:)
  2. California Bengal Cat Rescue in Southern California
Thanks for the nomination, crazykittykat1! This rescue group has over 40 Bengal cats up for adoption in the Southern California area. Due to the current volume of cats, the CA Bengal Rescue will not be taking in any more rescues until they get homes for some of the cats they already have.

We hope that all of these great looking cats can find new homes. Until then, we are happy to help them out by providing some of our litter!

Remember, we will give away two more 34lb. bags to a charity, foundation or rescued group next month too so stay tuned for updates! Thanks again for all your help!

CHECK IN: PET-FRIENDLY HOTELS MAKE TRAVEL WITH YOUR FURRY FRIENDS A BREEZE

by Lynn O'Rourke Hayes

An increasing number of lodging establishments are gaining guest loyalty by throwing a bone to Bob or a sardine to Sally.

We're not talking about the aging uncle or the difficult, distant cousin.

Rather, the focus is on our beloved pets; those fast friends who, recent research shows, are often more treasured companions than their human alternative. And hotel owners everywhere are finding there's nothing too good for Bob and Sally.

Red carpet treatment. Hotels and resorts are not only posting a welcome sign for your four-legged friends, they are going out of their way to ensure your pet is comfortable and cozy. Upscale hotel chains like Loews Hotels and Starwood's W Hotels, have expanded their system-wide commitments to include guests' furry companions. With perks ranging from toys at check-in to doggie or kitty turndown service, pets have plenty to wiggle their tails about.

Global programs. International chains like Best Western, Choice Hotels and Marriott have made offering pet friendly hotels a priority across the country and around the world.

First In. One of the earliest adopters of the pet-friendly phenomenon, the Cypress Inn, is in the pet-friendly enclave of Carmel, Calif. Owned by actress and animal advocate Doris Day, the Mediterranean-style establishment is a short stroll from the beach and offers pet sitting, plus suggestions for outings with your four-legged friends. Up to three pets are welcome. No doubt Ms. Day, the iconic pet lover, would be proud to see how the industry has changed to welcome pets of all shapes and sizes.

On the web. Websites like PetsWelcome.com and PetTravel.com help travelers chart a driving route that makes it easy to plan and book feline friendly hotels in advance. Travelers are able to sort lodging options by type of pet and locations.

If you go:

Plan ahead. Consider making an advance reservation through a pet friendly travel site or chain hotel website so you will know that your cat will be welcomed after a long day of travel.

Gather the gear. Don't forget your pet's collar, leashes and ID. A carrier or crate will also be important for making everyone feel comfortable and safe inside the hotel room. Consider bringing a familiar blanket or toy.

Remember their litter. You might not think a change in your cat's litter will be significant yet it may affect the success of your trip. To help your cat feel at home in the hotel room, make sure you bring along their favorite cat litter so your pal does not have to adjust to yet another new smell or experience. Cats are creatures of habit and keeping their litter the same will keep them happy. World's Best Cat Litter™ fits well into your travel program because it is 100% all natural. It is also flushable, making the disposal of litter hassle-free when you're in the hotel and on the road.

With a good plan in place, you can relax and enjoy your time away!

Yay! We have a ModKat Litter Box!

We at World's Best Cat Litter™ are very excited! Our good friend Rich Williams sent us a ModKat! Haven't heard of the ModKat before? The ModKat is an innovative, stylish and green litter box that has become a big hit with cats and their owners. The ModKat design team carefully studied the litter box experience and, with much consideration, created a first-ever, semi-enclosed "rooftop" entry lid. We recommend checking out the full review of the ModKat at apartment therapy. Also, if you want to see the ModKat being put to the test by a real four-legged user, be sure to watch the YouTube video.

As for our ModKat, here are some pictures of the beautiful package we received from Rich!

The ModKat Box!

Side of the box ... we love the tagline, "Where modern cats do their business."

Check this out. The ModKat comes with its own litter scoop. This scoop is ergonomically designed to fit the rounded corners and exact specifications of the litter box. Better yet, the ModKat comes with a reusable liner. A reusable liner is great for two reasons. First, it is simple and easy to clean and keeps the inside of the ModKat clean. Second, by using a reusable litter liner, cat owners are doing a big favor to the environment by forgoing less environmentally friendly alternatives, such as plastic liners. As you can probably guess, the green aspect of the ModKat is a big plus for us since we are proud manufacturers of an all-natural cat litter!

Lastly, the ModKat team is a big fan of World's Best Cat Litter™, so, we had to take one shot of our litter next to ModKat! You have to admit; they make a good-looking team, don't they?

That's all we have for you now! The ModKat might be the perfect gift this holiday season for that special someone or four-legged furriend you hold so dearly in your heart!

Happy scooping to all!

Ensure Harmless Tricks and Give the Treat of Safety to Your Cat this Halloween

Happy Halloween to all,
Greetings ghosts, goblins, and cat creatures! We hope everyone is getting excited for the upcoming holiday. We here at World's Best Cat Litter™ are anxiously waiting for our two favorite days of Catober: National Cat Day and, of course every Frankencat's favorite, Halloween.

That's right, October 29 is National Cat Day! For those of you unfamiliar with the commemoration, here is some background from www.nationalcatday.com:

National Cat Day was founded by Pet Lifestyle Expert & Animal Behaviorist, Colleen Paige to help galvanize the public to recognize the number of cats that need to be rescued each year and also to encourage cat lovers to celebrate the cat(s) in their life for the unconditional love and companionship they bestow upon us.

Estimates reveal that there are approximately 4 million cats entering shelters every year with 1-2 million being euthanized. Often cats are overlooked and under-appreciated because they don't usually have jobs like dogs. But cats still lower blood pressure, offer unconditional love and companionship and alert their owner of danger.

Cats have so many puuuurrrrsonalities and there is so much to love about them! Even if you can't adopt a cat, offer to volunteer to clean a cage or sit and play with a cat for a while. Who knows? You may just fall in love!

Please visit your local shelter on October 29th, offering love and life by adopting a homeless cat. The goal of National Cat Day is to facilitate the adoption of 10,000 shelter cats nationwide on October 29th.

It's no accident that National Cat Day falls just a few days before Halloween. As you well know, each Halloween, there are a certain few that choose to harm others. Sadly, the most common victims are cats. Black cats are especially susceptible to danger due to superstitions and legends that hold black cats as bad luck. To ensure your cat gets nothing but treats this Trick or Treats, we offer these tips:

  • Keep your cat indoors as much as possible during the few days leading up to Halloween,as well as during the actual Halloween festivities.
  • Keep a close eye on your cat while greeting trick-or-treaters and guests to make sure your cat doesn't escape out the door.
  • If your cat is outside, try to keep an eye on it as visitors enter and leave your house or apartment.
  • Make sure all treats, candies and foil wrappers aren't accessible to your cat. We recommend keeping them in a place they can't reach or in a sealed container.

Well, that's it for meow! We wish everyone the best of luck during both of these great holidays! Please feel free to tell us anything special, fun or exciting you are doing with your cat or pet as part of the festivities!

Boo!

"Feline Travel" by family travel and lifestyles expert Lynn Hayes

Traveling with your cats can be a rich and rewarding experience. The key is doing your research, then creating and executing a plan. Next step? Have fun!

Plan ahead. If you are considering a road trip or flying to your destination, set aside plenty of time to prepare yourself and your feline friend for the journey. Consider how your pet has handled car travel in the past, if only on a trip to the vet. Is he or she comfortable? Do you have a crate or carrier? How long will the trip be? Will other family members or friends be along for the ride?

Gather the gear. You'll need a collar, two leashes and ID for your cat. A small carrier or crate will also be important. Add a blanket and toys. It won't work if your pet wants to cuddle up around your feet just when you need to step on the brake.

Remember their litter. You might not think a change in your cat's litter will be a big change for your cat but it may affect the success of your trip. To help your cat feel like at home, make sure you bring along their favorite cat litter so your pal does not have to adjust to a new litter while traveling. Cats are creatures of habit and keeping their litter the same will keep them happy. World's Best Cat Liter fits well into your travel schedule because it is 100% all natural. It is also flushable, making the disposal of litter hassle-free when your are on the move. For more information visit www.worldsbestcatlitter.com

Practice makes perfect. If your cat is not familiar with crate travel, consider placing the crate in your home for a few weeks before your departure. Leave the door open and occasionally toss in a treat or two. Sooner or later, your feline companion will view the spot as a comfortable retreat and won't be intimidated when the time comes to pack up for the outing.

Take the same approach with a leash if that is not part of your regular routine. Also consider taking test drives to evaluate how your cat handles the situation. Don't forget to secure the carrier with a seat belt or other restraining method to avoid slipping and sliding within the car.

Room for two. Do your research to find pet friendly hotels and inns along your intended route. There are plenty of places to stay that welcome feline companions. During busy travel periods, make reservations in advance.

Safety first. Be sure your cat has identification firmly attached. Make sure vaccinations are up to date and any necessary medications are packed for the trip. Consider bringing along his or her medical records, particularly if you are crossing state lines. Remember that hot cars can quickly become dangerous for small animals. Don't leave your pet unattended.

Motion Sickness. Ask your vet about the safest way to handle motion sickness. Short drives can familiarize some cats with the sensation of car movement. Others might respond well to medications designed to treat motion sickness or anxiety.

Fly Away. If you will be moving or traveling long distances consider booking your cat on Pet Airways. Your feline friend will be in the good company of other "pawsengers" as they wing their way to a new destination in the comfort of the main cabin and with the constant attention of their own flight attendants. For more information and markets providing service visit www.PetAirways.com.

Arrive, relax and enjoy!

Four reasons World's Best Cat Litter™ is ideal for self-cleaning litter boxes

OK, we admit it. Scooping the cat litter box probably isn't the highlight of your day. And we also bet there are more than a few things you'd rather do right now. Play with your cat. Sing with your cat. Read to your cat. Nap with your cat. (Heck, you may even want to do something without your cat. It boggles the mind.)

But keeping your cat's box clean is essential to the odor-controlling performance of any cat litter—even World's Best Cat Litter™! So it's no wonder why so many people are looking into automatic self-cleaning litter boxes.

Yes, Virginia, there are automatic self-cleaning litter boxes. And some people swear by them. Using the right litter, however, is important. So here are four very good reasons why World's Best Cat Litter™ is the ideal choice for automatic litter boxes.

  1. World's Best Cat Litter™ clumps on contact. Most self-cleaning litter boxes use a rake to sift through the litter to grab and dispose of solids. By clumping on the top—and more importantly, by not letting moisture seep to the bottom—World's Best Cat Litter™ makes it easier for the rake to collect all the cat waste ... and not leave anything behind.

  2. World's Best Cat Litter™ is lightweight. Our good friends at LitterMaid® remind us that cats can use a litter box up to four or five times a day. That means your self-cleaning box puts in a busy day raking—every day. Because World's Best Cat Litter™ is light and soft, it won't stress the motor or clog the rake, ensuring longer life for your machine.

  3. Cats like the texture of World's Best Cat Litter™. After all, if your cat refuses to go into an automatic litter box because he or she doesn't like the way your litter choice feels on the paws, no one benefits.

  4. World's Best Cat Litter™ traps ammonia odor rather than masking it. Whether for a self-cleaning machine or just a regular litter box, cat litter made from whole-kernel corn simply locks in odor best. And since an automatic box usually waits 10 minutes or so after your cat does its business before engaging, that means 10 minutes of fresher air for you!

If you use or are considering using an automatic cat litter box, World's Best Cat Litter™ should be your automatic choice. In fact, it's recommended for use by Applica Consumer Products, the maker's of LitterMaid®.

Now, if only they'd invent a self-cleaning garage for us humans ...

Very Best,
- World's Best Cat Litter™

World’s Best Cat Litter™ Customer Corner—Thanks for your support.

Since launching our new website on Aug 19, we have gotten a lot of support from our customers, fans and furriends. We really enjoy hearing from all of our customers, whether they have recently opened their first bag or have been using World's Best Cat Litter™ since the day it was first put on the shelves nearly 10 years ago. Thanks to everyone for providing us with your feedback and support, your sharing of experience has helped us improve over the years.

Here is something pretty cool—in just a little over 2 weeks since the site has been up, we have gotten over 25 awesome testimonials from current customers. We have also had over 100+ people contact us to ask a question about the litter, share a unique experience and even ask us to be part of a unique opportunity, event or cause. All we have to say is "keep 'em coming!"

Without going into too much detail, we would like to share an overview of a nice testimonial we received just a few days ago.

On September 4, a nice customer wrote to us explaining that she has been living with an allergic condition that makes her extremely sensitive to chemicals and non-natural based fragrances. She has owned cats for the last 20 years and tried nearly every fragrance fee clumping litter she could find on the market. After trying many different brands nothing really worked for her. Not to mention, one of manufacturers she tried was accidentally mixing fragrance based litter in to their fragrance free litter causing her further problems.

She told us that World's Best Cat Litter™ is the only litter she has every used that is consistently fragrance free, clumps excellent and is 100% natural. She loves how our litter isn't dusty like the other litters, clumps real well and absorbs odor. Since using World's Best Cat Litter™ her life has improved because she doesn't have to worry about health issues associated with taking care of her cats!

We are very grateful that our litter has helped so many cat owners all across the world just like her. We look forward to hearing from everyone in the future as we are able to stay in touch better than ever before! Thanks to everyone for their support!

Labor Day Special—“Laborless” cat care tips to make your life easy.

Hi, all you hard-working people out there! We at World's Best Cat Litter™ know life can be crazy at times ... work, family, friends, homes, cars, travel, hobbies and in the center of it all, you. We know with so much going on, sometimes it can be the hard to do everything you would like to. We also know that doing the things you actually can do and doing them well can be equally as challenging.

At the end of the day, week, month, year and throughout the course of our lives, one of the most important things we can do is leave enough time for the things that are most important to us. Now, without making too many assumptions here, we will go ahead and guess that among your most "important things" is your cat or pet. After all, they are part of the family, too, right? Who else is there to snuggle up and listen to you for 365 days out of every year? Who else purrs when you pet them, waits for you at the door or—best of all—makes you laugh by surprising you with their latest trick?

In the spirit of taking care of the cats we love so dearly, and saving enough time to enjoy the other things we love, here are a few simple tips that promote happy, safe and fun-filled behaviors for your cats.

  1. Get proper identification. Even if you have a tracking chip, make sure your cat is properly outfitted with the proper collar and ID tag. This is so simple, but often times overlooked. Mistakes happen. You never know when a door might be left open, a gate is unlatched or an unexpected visitor leaves the door open.
Want a little bit of sass for your feline friend? Below are a couple of cool sites offering custom-designed and pre-styled ID tags.
    http://www.here-kittykitty.com
    http://www.pettags.com

  2. Relocate your litter box (if needed). Here is simple and easy one. Make sure to find the right location to put the litter box for your cat or cats. If you have multiple cats, you will want to consider using multiple litter box locations. Cats like having their litter box in a quiet secluded area. They don't want a highway going by while they are trying to take care of business. Do yourself and your cat a favor and try to find the spot that works the best for them by testing different areas of your house.

  3. Make time for teeth. Did you know that nearly 85% of adult pets have a periodontal disease and that dental disease is the largest single cause of health problems in cats? Make sure you are paying attention to the health of your cat's mouth. Do monthly check ups and look inside your cat's mouth for any warning signs or unhealthy symptoms. For information on specific periodontal diseases in cats, please go to "Open Wide, Kitty."

  4. Green up your home. Try to minimize your use of chemical-based household cleaners. These products can be of danger to you and your cat. Remember that cats might nibble on something off your floor, crawl around under a counter or sneak into a storage closet. You don't want them getting their paws on something that could potentially hurt them!

  5. Buy an interactive toy. Don't have a ton of time to play directly with your cat? Consider getting a toy that keeps them busy by interacting with them. Try to pick a toy that plays back with your cat a little bit. Not sure of where to begin? Here are a few examples:
Fantasy Fish Bowl Cat Toy by Petstages®
    Panic Mouse 360
    Peek-n-Play Mini Interactive Cat Toy

We wish everyone a very happy Labor Day and hope that you can spend time with the pets and people you love. We hope that our "laborless" tips help make more time for you and your whiskered friends to create an even tighter bond!

Very Best,
–World's Best Cat Litter™
