Become A Fresh Air Fiend–In The Home

The smell of fresh air in your home!

Fresh air. There’s nothing like it. Rather than put artificial air fresheners to work in your home, choose natural or organic elements to keep your home smelling sweet and clean. Here are a few ideas to consider:

Out with the bad. In with the good. Remove items like old food and smelly socks as quickly as possible. Then bring the good air in. It may seem obvious, but weather and outdoor air quality permitting, open the windows wide and let the fresh air flow through your home whenever possible.

Flower power. Fresh flowers add color, beauty and sweet smells to the home. Whether cut or potted, blossoms like daisies, roses or stock add a pleasant fragrance to every room in your home. Baking Soda. Your grandmother probably s

hared the many benefits of using baking soda in your home. Store an open box in your refrigerator. Tuck a small bowl of the powerful powder in bathrooms, closets or in storage rooms. Sprinkle on carpets, wait ten minutes and then vacuum odors away.

Manage Pet Odors. Your four- legged family members can be responsible for bringing interesting odors into the home. Keep your home clean and your pets healthy using all natural products whenever possible. Stove top fragrance. Put lemons, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves to work by simmering them on the stove, creating a warm fragrance particularly appealing in winter months.

Essential Oils. Tuck lavender soaked cotton balls into your drawers. Spritz a mix of water and lemon oil throughout your home. Just a few drops of these sweet smelling oils can be added to organic potpourri or a hot bath to soothe the senses.

Baker’s delight. Who doesn’t love the sweet smell of cookies baking in the kitchen? Added bonus: the whole family can enjoy the warm treats when they emerge from the oven.

Happy National Pet Week!

Time flies fast and furry-ously when you’re having fun. So don’t let National Pet Week go by without a little extra celebration. Break out the ‘nip. Break in a new scratching post. Brake for squirrels. And do your part to keep all pets and animals safe and healthy.

National Pet Week was jointly founded in 1981 by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the Auxiliary to the AVMA to promote responsible pet ownership, celebrate the human-animal bond and promote public awareness of veterinary medicine.

The theme for 2010 is “Pets and People—Healthy Together,” encouraging exercise for people and pets alike. (Did you know that 57% of cats in the United States are overweight, according to the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention?)

So how do you get a cat to exercise more than her right to sleep? Vetinfo.com has some good tips.

Our Four Favorite things from the 40th Earth Day!

We hope that everyone was able to enjoy a fun, exciting and rewarding Earth Day! We at World’s Best Cat Litter™ had a great time following along with all of the Earth Day related news, events and chatter. From the greenest part of our hearts, here are some of our favorite memories from the Earth Day’s glorious 40th!

This year we decided to turn the Earth Day chatter into real results—using Facebook and Twitter we enabled our fans and followers to donate money to the National Wildlife Federation! Thanks to all our fans and followers for participating! Your efforts raised real dollars that will be going to a great organization!

Step up and green it up for Earth Day – Top Ways to Celebrate Earth Day’s 40th Anniversary

Greetings and greenings to everyone,

Humans, pets, plants and all walks of life are as different as the seasons. However, as unique and different as we all might be, we share one giant think in common-the planet! That said, wouldn’t it be a good idea for all of us to give a special thank you to the wonderful round ball beneath all of our feet?

We at World’s Best Cat Litter™ are pumped for the 40th anniversary of Earth Day on April 22, 2010! In prep for this historic event, we wanted to share some fun ways to celebrate this special occasion! From clothing, to household products there are countless ways to lead a sustainable life in the twenty-first century. Here a just a few among many!

Toys:
There are many different products created and designed with the intentions of keeping your pets green! Here are a few of our favorite:

How many of your cat’s toys are actually “green” and earth-friendly? Maybe you should consider buying your cats a Chase The Hemp Cat Tail … for play time purposes of course!

Does your cat have an Itch? A bamboo square with Mohair green or brown, the perfectly green pet scratcher.

How about Wooly Dust Bunnies? These unique, organic dust bunnies are perfect for chasing!

Tips:
If you aren’t looking to spoil your pet with anymore organic or natural toys this time of year, there are tons of ways to make sure you and your pets stay eco-friendly!

1. Adopt. Sometimes pet ownership goes through cycles-it is always great when ownership gets recycled back to great and loving pet owners. Why spend the money and time buying a new pet when you can adopt one of the thousands of pets that will be living in shelters this year.

2. Clean up the mess. It is not the most glorious part of being a pet owner, but if you are going to do it right, make sure you pick up your pets waste. Use a biodegradable bag instead of plastic or create a compost pile if you can!

3. Pay attention to what you are feeding your pet! There are many 100% organic pet foods available these days, give them a try!

4. Lend a hand! Not just for Earth Day, but every day you should be looking to pick up rubbish those less considerate pollute the ground with. However, if the weather is nice this coming Earth Day, get outside, bring your pet and do a little cleaning up!

Greetings all!

As the saying goes, if March comes in like a lion it will go out like a lamb.
