it is very important to get the fleas off your kitty - white vinegar kills the fleas on contact, so brushing them or spraying them - if they will stand it - with vinegar will help - and getting the fleas and eggs out of the carpet is imperative. you can salt your carpet - seriously, walk around with your shaker or your whole container of salt and cover your carpet - and leave it on for a few hours and it will dehydrate the fleas, and further get a container of 20 Mule Team Borax in the laundry section and brush that into your carpet as well - don't let kitty eat this or get into her eyes - she probably won't want to be around for this anyway - and leave it on the carpet a few hours, then very slowly vacuum, and keep repeating this process every couple of days while continuing to remove the fleas from your pet - as the eggs on your pet will continue to hatch - and you'll be getting them out of your carpet after the first vacuum! it's also good to put some borax and salt into your vacuum bag or if you have a bagless vacuum, the container where your vacuum stores what it draws in. the first time i salted and boraxed my carpet and the cats' sleeping areas, it totally got rid of the fleas jumping around there - now i just have to keep working on the cats! also, adding a tiny bit of apple cider vinegar to their water - less than a teaspoon - is supposed to make their coat more acidic, which the fleas will not like. hope this helps someone! :)
