“Feline Travel” by family travel and lifestyles expert Lynn Hayes

Traveling with your cats can be a rich and rewarding experience. The key is doing your research, then creating and executing a plan. Next step? Have fun!

Plan ahead. If you are considering a road trip or flying to your destination, set aside plenty of time to prepare yourself and your feline friend for the journey. Consider how your pet has handled car travel in the past, if only on a trip to the vet. Is he or she comfortable? Do you have a crate or carrier? How long will the trip be? Will other family members or friends be along for the ride?

Gather the gear. You’ll need a collar, two leashes and ID for your cat. A small carrier or crate will also be important. Add a blanket and toys. It won’t work if your pet wants to cuddle up around your feet just when you need to step on the brake.

Remember their litter. You might not think a change in your cat’s litter will be a big change for your cat but it may affect the success of your trip. To help your cat feel like at home, make sure you bring along their favorite cat litter so your pal does not have to adjust to a new litter while traveling. Cats are creatures of habit and keeping their litter the same will keep them happy. World’s Best Cat Liter fits well into your travel schedule because it is 100% all natural. It is also flushable, making the disposal of litter hassle-free when your are on the move. For more information visit www.worldsbestcatlitter.com

Practice makes perfect. If your cat is not familiar with crate travel, consider placing the crate in your home for a few weeks before your departure. Leave the door open and occasionally toss in a treat or two. Sooner or later, your feline companion will view the spot as a comfortable retreat and won’t be intimidated when the time comes to pack up for the outing.

Take the same approach with a leash if that is not part of your regular routine. Also consider taking test drives to evaluate how your cat handles the situation. Don’t forget to secure the carrier with a seat belt or other restraining method to avoid slipping and sliding within the car.

Room for two. Do your research to find pet friendly hotels and inns along your intended route. There are plenty of places to stay that welcome feline companions. During busy travel periods, make reservations in advance.

Safety first. Be sure your cat has identification firmly attached. Make sure vaccinations are up to date and any necessary medications are packed for the trip. Consider bringing along his or her medical records, particularly if you are crossing state lines. Remember that hot cars can quickly become dangerous for small animals. Don’t leave your pet unattended.

Motion Sickness. Ask your vet about the safest way to handle motion sickness. Short drives can familiarize some cats with the sensation of car movement. Others might respond well to medications designed to treat motion sickness or anxiety.

Fly Away. If you will be moving or traveling long distances consider booking your cat on Pet Airways. Your feline friend will be in the good company of other “pawsengers” as they wing their way to a new destination in the comfort of the main cabin and with the constant attention of their own flight attendants. For more information and markets providing service visit www.PetAirways.com.

Arrive, relax and enjoy!

Four reasons World’s Best Cat Litter™ is ideal for self-cleaning litter boxes

OK, we admit it. Scooping the cat litter box probably isn’t the highlight of your day. And we also bet there are more than a few things you’d rather do right now. Play with your cat. Sing with your cat. Read to your cat. Nap with your cat. (Heck, you may even want to do something without your cat. It boggles the mind.)

But keeping your cat’s box clean is essential to the odor-controlling performance of any cat litter—even World’s Best Cat Litter™! So it’s no wonder why so many people are looking into automatic self-cleaning litter boxes.

Yes, Virginia, there are automatic self-cleaning litter boxes. And some people swear by them. Using the right litter, however, is important. So here are four very good reasons why World’s Best Cat Litter™ is the ideal choice for automatic litter boxes.

  1. World’s Best Cat Litter™ clumps on contact. Most self-cleaning litter boxes use a rake to sift through the litter to grab and dispose of solids. By clumping on the top—and more importantly, by not letting moisture seep to the bottom—World’s Best Cat Litter™ makes it easier for the rake to collect all the cat waste … and not leave anything behind.
  2. World’s Best Cat Litter™ is lightweight. Our good friends at LitterMaid® remind us that cats can use a litter box up to four or five times a day. That means your self-cleaning box puts in a busy day raking—every day. Because World’s Best Cat Litter™ is light and soft, it won’t stress the motor or clog the rake, ensuring longer life for your machine.
  3. Cats like the texture of World’s Best Cat Litter™. After all, if your cat refuses to go into an automatic litter box because he or she doesn’t like the way your litter choice feels on the paws, no one benefits.
  4. World’s Best Cat Litter™ traps ammonia odor rather than masking it. Whether for a self-cleaning machine or just a regular litter box, cat litter made from whole-kernel corn simply locks in odor best. And since an automatic box usually waits 10 minutes or so after your cat does its business before engaging, that means 10 minutes of fresher air for you!

If you use or are considering using an automatic cat litter box, World’s Best Cat Litter™ should be your automatic choice. In fact, it’s recommended for use by Applica Consumer Products, the maker’s of LitterMaid®.

Now, if only they’d invent a self-cleaning garage for us humans …

Very Best,

World’s Best Cat Litter™ Customer Corner—Thanks for your support.

Since launching our new website on Aug 19, we have gotten a lot of support from our customers, fans and furriends. We really enjoy hearing from all of our customers, whether they have recently opened their first bag or have been using World’s Best Cat Litter™ since the day it was first put on the shelves nearly 10 years ago. Thanks to everyone for providing us with your feedback and support, your sharing of experience has helped us improve over the years.

Here is something pretty cool—in just a little over 2 weeks since the site has been up, we have gotten over 25 awesome testimonials from current customers. We have also had over 100+ people contact us to ask a question about the litter, share a unique experience and even ask us to be part of a unique opportunity, event or cause. All we have to say is “keep ‘em coming!”

Without going into too much detail, we would like to share an overview of a nice testimonial we received just a few days ago.

On September 4, a nice customer wrote to us explaining that she has been living with an allergic condition that makes her extremely sensitive to chemicals and non-natural based fragrances. She has owned cats for the last 20 years and tried nearly every fragrance fee clumping litter she could find on the market. After trying many different brands nothing really worked for her. Not to mention, one of manufacturers she tried was accidentally mixing fragrance based litter in to their fragrance free litter causing her further problems.

She told us that World’s Best Cat Litter™ is the only litter she has every used that is consistently fragrance free, clumps excellent and is 100% natural. She loves how our litter isn’t dusty like the other litters, clumps real well and absorbs odor. Since using World’s Best Cat Litter™ her life has improved because she doesn’t have to worry about health issues associated with taking care of her cats!

We are very grateful that our litter has helped so many cat owners all across the world just like her. We look forward to hearing from everyone in the future as we are able to stay in touch better than ever before! Thanks to everyone for their support!

Very Best,
- World’s Best Cat Litter™

Labor Day Special—“Laborless” cat care tips to make your life easy.

Hi, all you hard-working people out there! We at World’s Best Cat Litter™ know life can be crazy at times … work, family, friends, homes, cars, travel, hobbies and in the center of it all, you. We know with so much going on, sometimes it can be the hard to do everything you would like to. We also know that doing the things you actually can do and doing them well can be equally as challenging.

At the end of the day, week, month, year and throughout the course of our lives, one of the most important things we can do is leave enough time for the things that are most important to us. Now, without making too many assumptions here, we will go ahead and guess that among your most “important things” is your cat or pet. After all, they are part of the family, too, right? Who else is there to snuggle up and listen to you for 365 days out of every year? Who else purrs when you pet them, waits for you at the door or—best of all—makes you laugh by surprising you with their latest trick?

In the spirit of taking care of the cats we love so dearly, and saving enough time to enjoy the other things we love, here are a few simple tips that promote happy, safe and fun-filled behaviors for your cats.

  1. Get proper identification. Even if you have a tracking chip, make sure your cat is properly outfitted with the proper collar and ID tag. This is so simple, but often times overlooked. Mistakes happen. You never know when a door might be left open, a gate is unlatched or an unexpected visitor leaves the door open.
Want a little bit of sass for your feline friend? Below are a couple of cool sites offering custom-designed and pre-styled ID tags.
    http://www.here-kittykitty.com
    http://www.pettags.com
  2. Relocate your litter box (if needed). Here is simple and easy one. Make sure to find the right location to put the litter box for your cat or cats. If you have multiple cats, you will want to consider using multiple litter box locations. Cats like having their litter box in a quiet secluded area. They don’t want a highway going by while they are trying to take care of business. Do yourself and your cat a favor and try to find the spot that works the best for them by testing different areas of your house.
  3. Make time for teeth. Did you know that nearly 85% of adult pets have a periodontal disease and that dental disease is the largest single cause of health problems in cats? Make sure you are paying attention to the health of your cat’s mouth. Do monthly check ups and look inside your cat’s mouth for any warning signs or unhealthy symptoms. For information on specific periodontal diseases in cats, please go to “Open Wide, Kitty.”
  4. Green up your home. Try to minimize your use of chemical-based household cleaners. These products can be of danger to you and your cat. Remember that cats might nibble on something off your floor, crawl around under a counter or sneak into a storage closet. You don’t want them getting their paws on something that could potentially hurt them!
  5. Buy an interactive toy. Don’t have a ton of time to play directly with your cat? Consider getting a toy that keeps them busy by interacting with them. Try to pick a toy that plays back with your cat a little bit. Not sure of where to begin? Here are a few examples:
Fantasy Fish Bowl Cat Toy by Petstages®
    Panic Mouse 360
    Peek-n-Play Mini Interactive Cat Toy

We wish everyone a very happy Labor Day and hope that you can spend time with the pets and people you love. We hope that our “laborless” tips help make more time for you and your whiskered friends to create an even tighter bond!

Very Best,
