WORLD'S BEST CAT LITTER DONATES 17,404 TOTAL POUNDS OF NATURAL CAT LITTER TO THREE TEXAS-BASED ANIMAL SHELTERS
Social media-driven GiveLitter initiative comes up big for cats in need
Muscatine, Iowa — May 16, 2011 — In the upcoming weeks, three of Texas' largest animal shelters will receive a huge boost in 17,404 total pounds of free all-natural, whole-kernel corn cat litter that was raised through the springtime GiveLitter initiative.
The social-media-driven GiveLitter campaign, which ended last Friday, saw over 61,174 total votes online to donate free litter to three worthy Texas-based animal shelters: The Austin Humane Society, Citizens for Animal Protection and The SPCA of Texas.
World's Best Cat Litter pledged to donate one pound of cat litter for every new Facebook fan and one-tenth of a pound of litter for every vote toward one of the participating Texas animal shelters. For the past 45 days, cat lovers from around the United States were able to vote once a day online at Facebook and at givelitter.com to give free litter.
GiveLitter reached out to "feline-thropists" and they certainly responded. "We are always thrilled to team up with cat lovers in order to meet the ever-present needs of shelter cats across the country," said Paul Zobel, Senior Director of Marketing, Kent Nutrition Group, Inc. "Shelters are always in need of supplies and we're proud to have embarked on a charitable initiative that has resulted in the donation of more than 41,265 total pounds of free litter to community-based rescue organizations in Washington D.C., Los Angeles and now Texas."
The GiveLitter initiative in Texas follows on the heels of two previous GiveLitter efforts that resulted in more than 5,255 pounds of World's Best Cat Litter being donated to animal shelters in Washington D.C. and more than 18,606 pounds being sent to rescue organizations in Los Angeles.
The GiveLitter initiative is designed to donate free litter to all three chosen charities, based proportionally on the number of fans and votes received.
